FIRST 50 / 50 DRAW WINNERS

Well done to:

Martin Ryan

Ed Fitzgerald

Joe Kenny

Maurice Hedderman

All four winners won €100 each in our first 50 / 50 draw.

Thank you to everyone who supported the draw. It is greatly appreciated.

50 / 50 DRAW: A WAY OF SUPPORTING YOUR CLUB

€5 A ROUND OF GOLF BUT YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO TAKE A SHARE OF 50% OF THE TOTAL POT IN THE WEEK THAT YOU ENTER

As you know we cannot run competitions at present.
That means that we do not have our normal income from competition entries.

Normally our members would be paying €6 to enter in a competition.

As a fundraiser we are asking players to enter a weekly draw while competitions are not running.

There is a box at the back door to the locker rooms.
Put €5 in an envelope.
Clearly PRINT your name and contact details on the envelope.
Put the envelope in the box.
If you are the winner you will be contacted.

Your support is very much appreciated.

Sports Ireland Clarification on Travel and Cocooning published on 14th May.

Sport Ireland has sought clarification from the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport on a number of items including the travel radius and sport for the cocooning population.
The Department has provided the following information:

‘People should not travel outside the 5 km limit to access facilities such as golf or tennis clubs. It should also be understood that going to facilities in advance of the 18th May to prepare for reopening is not considered to be within the spirit of the Roadmap.
In relation to the cocooning population, the advice currently is that they may leave their houses for exercise but they should avoid contact with other people, even on a socially distanced basis. This advice does not recommend over 70s playing golf or tennis – however, it is not mandatory, it is advisory, so individuals can make their own decisions.
While additional detail on restrictions from May 18th may follow in due course, the present advice is that they should not take part in sport with other people’

News

20x20

Coollattin has signed up to the 20x20 Charter supporting women and girls to be more active and more involved with our club.

Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant Closed until further notice.

Statement on COVID-19

13/03/2020

Dear Member,
I refer to the current COVID-19 virus and the latest advice from Government and the GUI/ILGU. This issue was considered by the management committee.

As golf is played in the open in small groups the risk of infection is low. Therefore golf will continue to be played at our club.
Members should however avoid the etiquette of shaking hands/ kissing at the end of your game. You can bump elbows as an alternative.

As the current advice is to continue with the opening of bars and restaurants, our bar/restaurant will open on Saturday, March 14th, Sunday, March 15th and Tuesday March 17th. After this date we will review the position based on the best available advice.

However if you have a cold/flu, other respiratory symptoms and or have returned from an infected area, you are requested not to enter the bar/ restaurant area.

We urge you to follow public health advice as follows:

•Wash your hands properly and often.

•Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve when you cough and sneeze.

•Put used tissues into a bin and wash your hands.

•Avoid close contact with people who are not well.

•Avoid crowded places especially indoors.

•When in the bar/ restaurant area please maintain at least one meter distance from others.

We are all part of the battle to reduce the spread of this virus. Your support in the golf club and in your community in this endeavor is required at this time.

The club will keep our operations under constant review.

Kind regards,

Hugh Kane

Chairperson of Management Committee

CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

Maurice Hedderman & Sinead Byrne

Captains Maurice & Sinead displayed true Coollattin club spirit when despite the worst of weather the drive in went ahead as scheduled on Sunday March 3rd.

The 9 hole scramble proved to be a test of stamina and will power with some teams failing to complete the 9 holes!

That said, the day proved a great success with members, friends and family coming out in large numbers to wish the captains well.

The captains arrived in style, courtesy of Billy the Bull, kindly driven by Moira Hart from The Wexford Lavender Farm.

They were greeted on arrival at the big house by Presidents Kevin & Caroline and the sponsor of the drive in Jim Byrne.

After three good tee shots from Maurice, Sinead & Daniel (Junior Boys Capt.) it was back to the clubhouse for refreshments and music.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success despite the conditions!

Maurice & Sinead really appreciated the turn out, good wishes and support and wish the members a healthy, happy and successful 2019!
